IMSP Hosts Campus Security and Safety Seminar by SSO

The Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Physics (IMSP) hosted a campus security and safety seminar for its faculty and administrative personnel on February 2, 2024. 

The speakers were from the Safety and Security Office (SSO), who shared their expertise and tips on how to prevent and respond to emergencies. They were Special Police Assistant Chief Jonathan D. Maliwat, Security Officer (SOII) Grizelda P. Marza, Special Policeman Alva Marie H. Tirones, and Special Police Lieutenants Pamela Mai R. Arquiza and Kristine Bernadette T. Matalog.

Special Police Assistant Chief Jonathan D. Maliwat presented case studies on campus security and safety issues such as cyberattacks, fire incidents, and earthquakes. Maliwat also introduced the basic concepts of the Incident Command System in Disaster Management and the protocol for incident management.

Security Officer Marza proceeded with the campus safety seminar and explained the fire code of the Philippines and the steps to take in case of fire. She emphasized the importance of following the fire safety rules and regulations to prevent any accidents or injuries. Tirones, Arquiza, and Matalog gave a presentation on the campus fire safety measures. They explained the fire protection system, the location of fire hydrants on campus, and the conduct of fire exit drills.

Lastly, the officers from SSO demonstrated how to use a fire extinguisher properly. 

The seminar concluded with certificates of appreciation presented to the lecturers for their invaluable contributions to the seminar.
